The real homework tonight is for students to rehearse the Jingle Verb song that they have been working on for two weeks now. The presentation/performance will be in class during each student's class tomorrow.
Helping Verbs (A.K.A.--Also Known As--"Jingle Verbs": Be, am, is, are, was, were, been, have, has, had, being, will, should, would, does, do, did, must, may, might, can, could, and shall.
STUDY SKILLS
- Read chapters 5 to 10 of The Light in the Forest (and you were supposed to have finished chapters 1 – 5 as of last Friday, 12/14/07).
- Work on your 2-column culture chart using information from chapters 1-10. Give at least 20 cultural details under each column for True Son’s Indian (one column) and his American/English (second column) cultures
- Work on your elements organizer using information from chapters 1 to 10. These are the 11 elements that should be on your self-created organizer--one element per shape--on a printing paper and creatively done.
Eleven elements: 1. Point of view, 2. setting, 3. climax, 4. flashback, 5. characters (give at least 5 of them), 6. protagonist (the main character, usually, the good person), 7. foreshadowing, 8. resolution, 9. conflict, 10. plot, and 11. antagonist
You should know what each of those words means. We have gone over them. Some of you have been doing them in my language arts class since August of this year. However, if you are still confused, we will go over them tomorrow (Wednesday) before your elements organizer is due to be turned in on Thursday of this week.
