All seventh grade students in advanced content social studies have the following assignments depending on their class period (if they have not finished the assignment in the last two weeks). All assignments are due on Monday (5/11/09).
First Period: Prepare for the cultural celebration for the country you pre-selected by engaging in the following:
1. Turn in your elaborate product: Powerpoint product (on flash or sent to me through e-mail before 9 P.M. on Sunday), posterboard, brochure, or any other elaborate method used to answer each of the questions on your "Cultural Celebration" rubric. (You have had two weeks to work on this.)
2. Bring in a sample of the type of food eaten in your country, enough for the people in your class period.
3. Share some words from your country's main language as we mingle and converse in celebration of world cultures.
Second Period: Bring in the correct number and type of items to trade under each of the three economic systems we have studied this year: Traditional, command, and market. You will be graded on your ability to apply the concepts you have learned this year. Go through the instruction sheet titled "Setting Up to Trade" that was given to you over two weeks ago. We have discussed all aspects of the activity, and you have had ample time to ask questions and to work on it.
Also, bring in (mint) only ten percent of your country's per capita income divided by 12 months. The teacher provided you with this amount earlier in the week. If you need more information, please visit the CIA website.
See the calendar under yesterday's blog entry for the due dates of all other assignments including your South and East Asia end-of-unit test on 5/12/09.
Have a wonderful weekend, and be nicer to your mothers!
