Left Overs, Columns 2 and 3, and Maps

Class Activities:

Left Overs: Make up work--Unit 1 Test for those who had not taken it yet and world and regional (Middle East and Europe) maps.

Column 2 assignments were due today.

Column 3 assignments will begin tomorrow.  Please consult your 3-column chart.  Select the activity you would like to work on tomorrow and bring your ideas to class.  We will have lap tops and research materials/information and bookmarked websites for your research.

Column Two Item Due

Homework: The item you picked from the middle section of your 3-column chart is due on Monday (9/29/08).  Remember to turn in your rubric with your assignment.  Points will be deducted for work that is turned in without rubric.

Five Themes With Technology Due Tomorrow

The completed five themes of geography chart is due tomorrow.  Those who were unable to finish theirs in class today, please turn them in tomorrow.  There is no extension.  If you have Internet access, please use the websites given here to complete yours.  If you do not have Internet access, use your textbook and/or any other source to locate information on your country.  You can also use the maps on the following pages to complete the sections on your handout on (1) Location (absolute and relative locations), (2) Place and (3) Region:

Homework for 6th and 7th Grades (ACSS)

September 22, 2008: Homework--6th Grade (Europe):

Follow all instructions on Page 277 as stated; create the correct graphic organizer(s) to show your work.  Answer all the questions on Page 277 (Section 1 Assessment, #1 - 4) in complete sentences.

7th Grade: (Middle East--North Africa and Southwest Asia):

Answer all the questions on Page 453 (Section 1 Assessment, #1 - 4) in complete sentences.  Follow all instructions on that page as stated; create the correct graphic organizer to show your work.

 

Review for Unit Test (Homework)

Study for the unit test covering the same materials that were on the chapter quizzes (Chapters 1 and 2).  Review the same vocabulary words from your homework assignment of Monday night.  The only exception is that the Unit test will use the CRCT format.

Map of Big Ideas for Homework/Quizzes

Due tomorrow (9/17/08). 

On the front: Write four insights you have on how the five subjects under social studies are interdependent.

On the back: (Venn Diagram) Give five facts on how a map differs from a globe, and vice versa (how a globe differs from a map), and three facts on how they are similar.  Also, pull everything together in a summary at the bottom of the handout.  This section (the bottom part of the handout) accounts for about 40 percent of the grade.

REVIEW YESTERDAY'S HOMEWORK (SEE YESTERDAY'S BLOG ENTRY FOR THE VOCABULARY LIST).  STUDY FOR YOUR CHAPTER QUIZ (CHAPTERS 1 AND 2) AND UNIT TEST!
